It doesn’t matter what you believe
                                                  as long as you’re sincere!

But sincerity doesn’t produce truth or reality. You can be sincere but be sincerely wrong.
How many of you had a girl or boyfriend that you thought you were going to marry but didn’t? You sincerely believed that you were going to marry them, but you didn’t. You were sincere but you were sincerely wrong. Did it matter that you were sincere? No! Because the object you placed your sincerity in, you had no control over.

The apostle Paul, when he was Saul, sincerely believed wiping out the early Christian church was the right thing to do. He later came to see his sincerity was mis-placed (Acts 22:3-5).

Sincerity can produce opposite results. A Christian sincerely believes there is a God, an atheist sincerely believes there is no god. Both are sincere. Both cannot be right, hence, sincerity cannot produce reality or truth.

We humans can only see the outward actions of a person. What looks sincere may not be sincerity at all. It may be a rebellion against God. While the atheist may appear to be sincere in his belief, inwardly his unbelief may just be a rebellion against God for a perceived slight by God. But God can see a person’s real intentions (1st Samuel 16:7).

Belief determines behavior but sincerity does not make a wrong belief right. “But your honor, I sincerely believed that the gun wasn’t loaded”. What your belief is placed in determines whether it will become reality or not.

Sincerity is a great thing to have as long as it is placed in something that is true or real.
